Raycing to the Starting Line

On June 12, 2010, the North American Solar Challenge will commence. It is a combination of 3 separate events that will test every team's vehicle. The first few days are spent at a scrutineering event that will ensure that every vehicle meets official regulations and is safe for use. Then the teams will spend several more days competing in the Formula Sun Grand Prix, a test of the vehicles' speed and maneuverability as they try and post the best lap time on a road course. The final part of the event is the American Solar Challenge Road Rayce, a 1,500 mile long drive from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Chicago, Illinois.

The Road Rayce is the event that every team is working towards this year. Here at Western Michigan University, we are busy building the 2010 Sunseeker and we can't wait until our chance to compete in this event.

You can follow the team's build progress at 2010 Sunseeker Build Progress.
Or visit the North American Solar Challenge site for more details about the competition.
And, last but not least, here is a link to the team's Official Homepage.

Be sure to visit this blog starting in June for updates about the team before, during, and after the 2010 American Solar Challenge!
